Community Partners


Because we work with union and non-union employers, we have a unique position within the workforce development community. Together, our goal is to ensure that we have skilled workers matched with the right employers to fuel the local economy.

Arlington Heights One-Stop Career Center - Offers Northwest Illinois job-seekers and employers a broad range of employment, training, education, economic development, and labor market services.

Chicago Federation of Labor - The central labor organization for more than 300 Chicago area unions and 500,000 Chicagoland union members affiliated with the American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO).

CFL Community Services Department - Provides human services and workers’ rights support to Chicago Federation of Labor affiliated members and their families.

Chicagoland Green Collar Jobs Initiative - A collaboration of community, workforce, environmental, and education agencies created to develop a skilled workforce for Chicago’s emerging “green” economy.

Chicago Manufacturing Renaissance Council - A partnership of the area’s community, business, government and education leaders working to establish Chicagoland as a global leader in high-performance manufacturing.

Vocational Rehabilitative Impact Center - An 18-week detention program offered to non-violent criminal offenders, based on military discipline, fundamental vocational skills, education, and alcohol/substance abuse treatment.

Cristo Rey Jesuit High School - Through Cristo Rey’s Corporate Internship Program (CIP), CFL Workers Assistance Committee employs Cristo Rey student interns in an initiative that provides hands-on work experience, while empowering these students to take an active role in financing their education.

DePaul University - Founded on the Vincentian principle of access for everyone, DePaul University faculty partner with us to identify internship opportunities for students, to research opportunities for limited English proficient customers, and evaluate the effectiveness of community gardens. DePaul offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in numerous fields, in addition to continuing education courses for workers.

Illinois AFL-CIO - Represents the third largest union membership state in the country; provides a voice to Illinois’ union members and working families.

Illinois Department of Employment Security - Link for information regarding unemployment insurance, job placement and referrals, labor market information and employment and training.

Illinois Department of Human Services - The State of Illinois’ comprehensive site for information connecting individuals to health, child care, housing and other human services.

Illinois Manufacturing Extension Center - Experienced staff based at eleven office locations throughout Illinois provide hands-on technical assistance and consulting services to help manufacturers innovate, contain manufacturing costs, streamline processes, and increase profits.

Illinois WorkNet - Resource site for Illinois’ job seekers and businesses; provides connections to jobs, training providers, education, and human services.

Industrial Council of Nearwest Chicago - ICNC strengthens both start-up & emerging companies by providing business development assistance as well as information and links to public and private resources and services.  ICNC, an employer-driven organization develops programs and services in response to the needs of the companies it represents.

NORBIC/Alliance for Illinois Manufacturing - A partnership of taxpayer supported and non-profit organizations that leverages, coordinates, and focuses its collective resources into integrated solutions that transform Northeast Illinois manufacturers into globally competitive companies. 

Northwestern University Public Interest Program - A one-year fellowship which places graduating Northwestern seniors in public interest jobs throughout Chicago.

Steans Center for Community-based Service Learning - DePaul University - Provides community-based educational learning grounded in Vincentian community values to DePaul University students.
